Born to Suffer Want to see a movie in the park tonight? Nacidas Para Sufrir (Born to Suffer) is playing at Harrison Park (1824 South Wood) and Garrett Popcorn will be there to give away Chicago Mix to movie-goers. The weather forecast is in the mid-70′s — a great evening to be outdoors!

This 2009 Spanish film shares the tale of a group of women (a sweet old lady, her religious niece, her servant and the latter’s disabled mother), all so generous and selfless that they almost compete with one another as ferocious rivals to see who can help most and make the greatest sacrifice for the others’ well-being. And we all know the well-known saying: ‘The road to hell is paved with good intentions’.

The movie is free to the public, courtesy of the Latino Cultural Center. The movie starts playing shortly after sunset.

Anita

Garrett Popcorn is joining forces with Chicago’s Latino Cultural Center for an outdoor screening of the 2009 Argentinian film, Anita. Anita is the story of a young woman with Down syndrome who lives a happy, routine life in Buenos Aires, being meticulously cared for by her mother Dora. One tragic morning in 1994, everything changes when Anita is left alone, confused and helpless after the nearby Argentine Israelite Mutual Association is bombed (the deadliest bombing in Argentina’s history). As Anita wanders through the city, she learns not only to care for herself, but touches the lives of those around her, from an alcoholic to a family of Asian immigrants.

The movie will play at sunset on Wednesday, July 13 at Harrison Park, 1824 South Wood Street. Garrett Popcorn will hand out free bags of popcorn to movie-goers while supplies last.

Hope to see you there!
