Here at Garrett Popcorn Shops we were heartbroken to hear news of the devastation in the Philippines caused by Typhoon Haiyan (Typhoon Yolanda) that began on November 3, 2013 and led to the loss of over 6,000 lives and has affected an estimated 11 million people. With the help of our generous customers, our Asia-Pacific Shops in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia (total of 9 Shops)  banded together to raise funds for Haiyan relief efforts. From November 29 – December 8th, 10% of every Tin purchase was donated to help the Philippines.

At the conclusion of our fundraising efforts, we presented a check to The Singapore Red Cross which totaled S$15,000/$100,000 HKD/ 40,000 RM. Here is a photo of Olivia, our Director of APAC Region, donating our check to a representative of the Singapore Red Cross.

Our contribution could not have been possible without the support of our kind and charitable customers. Thank you to everyone who participated in our relief efforts and please keep the Philippines in your thoughts as they rebuild.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to our amazing fans for helping us raise donations for A Silver Lining Foundation again this year with our October Pink Tin Promotion! We raised $15,000 this year, and we couldn’t have done it without you!

This is our third year partnering with Dr. Sandy Goldberg and her organization, whose mission is to ensure dignified, respectful and equal access to quality cancer education and services for all. A Silver Lining Foundation’s Buy Mom A Mammogram program is designed to help underinsured women receive no or low cost mammograms, which is critical for early detection and breast cancer treatment.

“311 lives have been eased and saved as a result of this program over three years,” says ASLF founder and breast cancer survivor Dr. Sandy Goldberg.   “Studies show that when one person is diagnosed with cancer, an average of 50 people are also personally impacted as a result.  These important funds reverberate throughout the community as we work together to save one life at a time.”

Here is our team with Dr. Sandy celebrating another successful year!
