This Sunday is International Museum Day, so we at Garrett Popcorn wanted to show off its Chicago pride by highlighting the best museums in The Windy City!

If you’re going to visit a museum on International Museum Day, we recommend first starting at The Field Museum. Located along Lake Shore Drive surrounded by various other Chicago landmarks, including Soldier Field and Shedd Aquarium, The Field Museum is a among the world’s largest natural history museums. One particularly cool exhibit worth checking out is The Machine Inside, which takes a fascinating look into the bio-mechanics of animals and humans. If you need plans for the weekend, we definitely recommend it.

North of The Field Museum, just off Lake Shore Drive, is the Chicago History Museum. If the captivating history of the city of Chicago is your cup of tea, then this is definitely the perfect place to celebrate International Museum Day. The Chicago History Museum currently has some fantastic exhibits about Abraham Lincoln and his time in Chicago. There is also a photographic exhibit about the history of America’s railways, of which Chicago played a big part.

Finally, we have to recommend the Museum of Science and Industry. This museum may be one of the most entertaining destinations in Chicago. If you love science, then this is definitely the place for you. From wildlife to chemistry to the raise of technology, the Museum of Science and Industry has it all. Enjoy chemistry done right before your eyes in their live science experience, watch how tornadoes form in their Vortex Show, and check out their exhibit on the future of energy in Chicago.
