Why does Chicago still have its mind on ice with Spring already sprung?

Why are the men of Chicago covering their faces with scruffy beards?

Why will the “Madhouse on Madison” be packed on Monday night?

Because It’s The Cup!

Go Blackhawks!

That’s the slogan the NHL has been pushing for weeks now in anticipation of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and now they have finally arrived.

Right now, the Blackhawks are the toast of Chicago. Kings of a sports-crazed city. The reigning Stanley Cup champions are among the favorites once again as they prepare to defend the remarkable silverware affectionately known as Lord Stanley.

It all starts tonight against the rival Blues of St. Louis. Can Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane drive the Blackhawks to raising the Cup once again? We sure hope so! Will Duncan Keith sacrifice is teeth yet again for the Cup? We hope not; you need teeth to enjoy Popcorn!

At Garrett Popcorn, we pride ourselves on being “A Chicago Tradition.” We know Chicago is proud of its teams, especially one that is defending its crown. That’s why we offer a Chicago Blackhawks Tin! We want the people of Chicago to be able to show off their passion with pride.

So this is your moment, Chicago. This is playoff season, and we’re here to make sure it screams Chicago. Stop by one of our Shops, fill up a Blackhawks Tin full of the Chicago Mix and cheer on the ‘Hawks!

Two goals. 17 seconds.

If you live in Chicago, chances are you know this story.

Of course it’s the epic tale of the Chicago Blackhawks lifting the 2013 Stanley Cup after beating the Boston Bruins in a dramatic late comeback during Game 6 of the Finals.

Bryan Bickell and Dave Bolland (we miss you, Dave) scored two late goals in 17 seconds to beat the Bruins 3-2 and bring hockey’s most prestigious honor home to Chicago.

Tonight we all get to enjoy a rematch between these two incredible teams, and being A Chicago Tradition ourselves, we just had to honor one of the shining moments in The Windy City’s recent history.

What will you be snacking on tonight for this Stanley Cup rematch? Might we recommend some Chicago Mix from Garrett Popcorn as you cheer on the Chicago Blackhawks?

You can’t beat enjoying A Chicago Tradition while cheering on another Chicago tradition.

Stop by one of our Shops today before the big game!

Go Blackhawks!

Being a Chicago tradition ourselves, we love all of the tradition that comes with St. Patrick’s Day in Chicago. From dyeing the Chicago River green to the St. Patrick’s Day parade, we wanted to share our favorite festivities for folks to enjoy in Chicago this weekend.

It’s no secret that we love Chicago. After all, we pride ourselves on being a Chicago tradition since 1949! So this year, as with every other year, we’re really excited about the Chicago St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Running down South Columbus Drive from East Bilbao Drive to East Monroe Drive, the parade route goes right past the iconic Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park, a true Chicago landmark.

To make the parade even richer with Chicago culture this year, the Grand Marshall will be John McDonough, President and CEO of the Stanley Cup-winning Chicago Blackhawks. Chicago is known for its passionate sports fans almost as much as it’s known for Garrett Popcorn Shops, and the Blackhawks are the toast of the Chicago sports scene at the moment. The fun at the parade all kicks off at noon on Saturday.

Before the parade, however, make sure to enjoy a visual masterpiece along the Chicago River. Every year, Chicago celebrates a “modern day miracle” in the heart of the city, as an orange dye is released into the Chicago River, which might seem odd, but after a few minutes, the dye miraculously turns the river into a brilliant shade of Irish green. This makes for quite a stunning visual along the river that runs through the hectic area of the loop. The dyeing starts at 10am on Saturday and we recommend trying to grab a spot on the Columbus Drive bridge, assuming you get there early enough.

One final Chicago treat has recently been highlighted by Thrillist. Both Emmit’s and Cork and Kerry made Thrillist’s lists for America’s top 21 Irish pubs. Quite a big feat when you consider the popularity of Irish pubs in America. If you want a taste of Ireland to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this weekend, you might want to check them out. Just save some room for some delicious Garrett Popcorn!

Chicago has a rich Irish-American cultural heritage, and it’s great to see that be celebrated every year. We have shared some of our favorite Chicago events for St. Patrick’s Day, but nothing beats grabbing a Tin of your favorite Garrett Popcorn and partaking in whatever festivities make you happy!
