Today kicks off the beginning of A Javanese Affair at Alliance Française, a week-long celebration of Indonesian culture in Singapore. Focusing on the culture surrounding the Merapi volcano in Central Java, the exhibition features a showcase titled “Merapi: Beyond the Myths by Heri Dono from Indonesia.” The week’s program also includes a discussion forum, film screening, dance performance and craft exhibition. In conjunction with the National Arts Council, Noise Singapore promotes the outstanding works of young, talented Singaporean artists under the age of 35. Noise publicizes selected works via internet, radio, television and press, as well as at the annual Showcase Exhibition at B4 ION Station beginning 16 February. If you like to enjoy art and music together, be sure to check out The Apprenticeship Programme Exhibition Open House on Saturday, 18 February.
